Hello – it has been more than a week that I have referred a friend for Platinum card in order for them to take advantage of the 100k sign-up bonus but referral points have not hit my account yet. Normally, in the past, they appeared almost immediately (within 1-2 days following successful application). Data point: friend was accepted on the day and they received their card a couple of days later.
AMEX does state that it might take 8-10 weeks for referral points to appear but that has never been the case.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
There have been instances of a) people not using the referral link and b) Amex claiming that the link wasn’t used, so if the points don’t appear in the next few days it might be worth asking if there was some issue surrounding this.
I think people have taken to taking screenshots of the application screen to prove they used the link!
I have same problem. It’s been 3 weeks now but still no bonus points. Chatted with CS and they can see the sucessful referral. However there is nothing can be done to speed it up until 8 weeks waiting time is up. I had more than 10 referrals past 5 years, never has any issue before.

Luckily they said that the referral link was used but they have no idea of when bonus will be posted, which is strange…
My referral link was used 2 weeks go, and no sign of the points either.
Also – I’m a tad sad, the referral bonus doubled a few days after referral. You win some, you lose some.

It was a referral for a Gold card with my Platinum’s referral link.
I referred a friend last week as well for the same 100k offer, and indeed, in the past the points would appear as soon as the card was shipped/activated. In my case, however, I actually think that I might have hit the 90k limit. I had a few referrals earlier in the year which gave me 3 points per £1 as well, I suspect that has counted towards it as I made very good use of it and it did end at some point a little prematurely I thought, as it was meant to be for 90 days.
I wish I had reached 90k but no 🙂 As a side note it’s a bit annoying that AMEX CS keeps on referring to 10-week timeframe for receiving them when they know as well that referral bonuses are normally posted within a couple of days of a successful application.
Data point: referral sent, applied and card approved yesterday. Received 18k today.
Made a referral a week ago and one yesterday. Just received referral bonus on one of them (suspecting the one from yesterday). Amex CS confirmed that the one made last week was a valid referral. Let’s see when the other one posts.
I made two referrals. One approved last week and one approved yesterday. I just received a referral bonus which I am suspecting is the referral from yesterday.
CS says that the first referral was valid and that it can take 10 weeks. Let’s wait and see.
Any further update on those delayed referral points? Has anyone received them finally (and when)?

My bonus has finnally arrived after a whole month.
So I thought I was capped out at 90k, however, the points randomly posted yesterday after around 2 weeks since successful referral. Except I received 12k rather than 18k even though it says UK MGM Referral Bonus 18k. Not sure if I should query this or let it be as I do imagine 12k did take me to the cap.

Interesting follow-up question… if referral cap was reached for your e.g. gold account and you only received part of the referral points due to above, can you ask CS to add remaining referral points to your other Amex account (I.e BAPP)?
I used to receive the referral bonus around a day or two after the card was approved for each successful reference. However, I referred someone at the start of November, and was very concerned when the points didn’t land within a week. Two days ago, I got an email saying that I’ve successfully referred someone, and the points were in my account.
Not sure what to make of this delay, but the referred party is adamant they followed your link, best to wait it out!
