Yesterday morning I was on an SAS flight within Scandinavia. 2 bags checked, only 1 bag on belt. Turned out that ground handling at the departure airport “forgot” to load the 2nd bag. Have it confirmed that the 2nd bag will be delivered to my temporary address this afternoon. Not a too big of an inconvenience as I’m staying with family but the bag that will arrive this afternoon contains all toiletries and clothes for my short trip.
I have several travel insurance policies, incl AmEx Platinum. Common for all are that they will pay up for acquiring clothes and toiletries etc but since it is Christmas it would be impossible to go shopping for this. I’ve not had any expenses incurred. My question is then, will/should the airline or insurance company compensate for just the delay and inconvenience, or should I just let this slide? Any opinions? Must add it has been many years since I had a similar experience.
Read your policy. Each is different. Often only out of pocket expenses are covered. Some won’t even cover amounts up to a certain amount etc. None will pay what you can recover from an airline (again each is different). The bottom line as to what airline must cover is usually in the Warsaw Convetion or the Montreal Convention for luggage and may well be restated in the airline’s terms and conditions…or just phone them.

Thanks Lady London. Just annoying that the belongings I need arrives 30-35 hours late. No direct out of pocket expenses. Would be nice if the airline would apologise and comp with some EB points or similar. Guess that is rare these days 🙄
