My wife and I both got emails from Radisson today about losing our comped VIP status in 3 months.
They contain this odd wording:
“We would like to remind you that your Radisson Rewards tier is about to expire, you will be downgraded in 3 months. We want to help you keep enjoying your benefit and making the most of your stay. Book and stay at any of our properties in the next 3 months to keep all of your rewards. Take action now to keep making the most of every stay.”
This IMPLIES that they are offering me another year of VIP if I do one stay in the next 3 months.
However, there is no other mention of this. There’s nothing else in the email to give the impression that one stay will get me a 12 month extension.
The email header is “ROBERT, stay with us to keep all your VIP tier benefits!” which isn’t exactly specific.
Anyone else get this?
To me that reads like a clunkily worded way of pressuring you to enjoy your last 3 months vs offering you a year extension
I was wondering how the status drop would happen – I’m currently VIP til December but want to book for Jan. I assume i’ll drop down to this level automatically and have to pay the Plat level pricing for my reservation even if it was booked under VIP Status?
Radisson status has lost any exclusivity, with them now status matching Avanti West Coast gold members to Radisson Premium. Good luck getting a room upgrade at Premium level now.

Didn’t see that. To be fair its the same as they offer Amex Plats.
Not a threst to vaporise anyone’s points in 3months if they were saving them?

Oh Rob, quite the difference between a Plat cardholder and an Avanti Gold surely…..
Time to get Club Avanti Platinum! They’re offering VIP to holders

Not really as you need to do 9 one-way tickets on a train ticket of at least 75km distance and on Avanti services and pay their quite extortionate fees. It’s comparable really.
I got the same email.
I mourn the days of Virgin Voyager club. Was worth buying the qualifying tickets, binning them and enjoying a free year of unlimited weekend first class travel. Paid for itself about ten times over as I was working in Camden and living just outside Preston at the time.
Received the same e-mail. What isn’t clear to me is what happens if I book a VIP rate now for after I lose my VIP status? When you book it seems to add the following to the booking:
Stay options:
Rewards – VIP
Rewards – VIP Breakfast for 2
Think there is a risk they will take this away if I’m no longer VIP or I will keep it? Was looking at booking a trip in Oct forgetting that I’d drop my status in August..going to miss the mega VIP upgrades
