Does anyone have recent experience of earning based on distance for flights on BA or AA?
I’ve heard even BAH bookings now usually earn based on eligible spend. I have an AA issued DONEx round the world ticket and I think even the domestic and US to/from South America flights on AA will earn based on eligible spend but I’d love to hear from anyone who does done similar recently.
btw sorry if there’s a thread for this, I’ve searched and hunted and can’t find one.
I did a BAH 2 weeks ago and avios earned was distance based.

Yes, BAH is still distance, class and fare bucket based. I was quite surprised, for a sub £300 return CE fare (extrapolated from the total holiday price) to get 6,864 Avios out based on D bucket and 4,118 back for R plus the double TP. Quite a difference vs sub 2,000 that would have been earned for the straight cash ticket.
Exceptions
Tickets bought after 18 October 2023 where the fare paid isn’t available, including flights booked as part of a British Airways Holidays package, will continue collecting Avios based on a percentage of how many miles you fly and the cabin you fly in.
But it’s important to note that the avios shown in MMB is showing based on the flight cost (new system) rather than the old distance system so that may be confusing some people as to what they may get.
The last BA Hol I managed to fly in January the avios were definitely the distance based method as the avios awarded matched those given for pre change trips.
My next BA Hol booking shows zero avios and TPs but that maybe based on there being no BA flights in the booking only AY and AA but with BA code share numbers (plus there were some other issues with the booing)
My next after that to AMS is showing as cost base but I think that’s more to how BA has programmed what gets shown in MMB for simplicity.
