Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Do Reward seats get “bumped” if there is an aircraft change with less seats

  • 73 posts

I am currently booked UC on Virgin. This flight has 30+ UC seats, currently 12 seats are taken. The same flight on previous weeks has now been changed to an A350-1000 series 2 aircraft, this has only 16 UC seats. If the same flight change happens to my flight and there are demands for more “paying customers” in UC, will my seat be bumped to allow Virgin to make a revenue sale as apposed to a reward seat sale.

it would seem be stupid of them not to – but you are entitled to full compensation – same as cash passenger They may try and convince you otherwise

Do you mean bumped (i.e. off the flight completely) or downgraded to a lower cabin? Compo is different depending on which.

Having flown reward Upper for many years with VS, and only about three times as a revenue customer, I’ve never been forcibly downgraded, even when there are demands from self-loading cargo to pay more to upgrade on long-haulers. They are, on the whole, generally very good to their customers. That said, your mileage may vary. As others say, if you end up in P or Y, you’ll be entitled to compensation which, on the whole, I have only had to claim twice (and not for downgrade), but it was paid out quickly and without quibble.
