Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Do Virgin Miles and Vouchers work like BA?

I have enough miles (115k) to get me to the Caribbean in Upper Class and I also have a Companion Voucher. Is using the miles and voucher the same as on BA i.e. I will pay one set of miles (115k), one voucher and two sets of taxes?
    Cheers

There are differences based on status – you need to read Rob’s article about the Virgin MC and how the voucher works.

But the vouchers might not have been earned through the credit card… I have credit card and status renewal vouchers on my account.

To your question, @CraigBird71, I find that they’re simpler. A companion voucher can be used in conjunction with any ticket in any cabin (excluding Economy Light and Economy Delight), so long as the companion is not travelling in a cabin higher than yours. If you earned the voucher through the credit card, then you can book the companion in to any cabin, irrespective of what tier status you hold. If you hold Gold or Silver at the time of booking, you will also pay no taxes. If you hold Red, you will pay no taxes in Economy or Premium and will receive a 50% discount on taxes if you book in to Upper.

In your scenario, you will pay the miles for yourself (or the cash value, because you can use a companion voucher in conjunction with a revenue ticket) and forfeit the voucher. You will pay no taxes unless you’re a Red member, in which case you’ll only get a 50% discount of taxes.
