Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Does Virgin recalculate fees/taxes when adding a return later?

We all know that with BA you can book your reward flight outbound at T-355 then call up to add the return when that becomes available and the charges get recalculated as a return.

But can you do this with virgin? It will be for a US destination where 2 one ways will 50% more than a return.

Yes – I did this last week. But I had to ask specifically for it to be added to the existing booking ref – Agent was keen to give me 2 singles and was unaware the price would be different if combined.

Thank you. I had to make a number of calls to Virgin yesterday, all with different levels of helpfulness so good to have a separate confirmation.

The First lady i spoke to was lovely and gave us all the expiry dates for all our CC vouchers but got a bit overwhelmed when i asked about booking with 2 vouchers from each of our accounts, and wasn’t aware as we are red tier that the companion voucher was only a BOGOHP rather than BOGOF. I then asking about booking a return at a later date and she put me on hold for ages. She suggested it could be done referencing their out of range policy but i got the feeling she was reading what somebody told her and wasn’t exactly sure what it meant.

Then we realised we had forgotten to mention we wanted to change the name on my wife’s account to her married name, the 2nd guy was quite rude for some reason and we either got cutoff or he hung up!

Thankfully the last guy was incredibly helpful and gave us an email address to send a pic of the marriage certificate and he then amended it instantly.

Amazingly all calls were answered immediately, not sure how normal that is with VS.

It’s commonplace for calls to be answered pretty much instantly – the most I’ve waited is about two minutes or so. I tend to find the Cardiff-based staff get things done first time, with minimal fuss (a bit like how if you want great service from AmEx, you use Brighton).
