Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Do you get a physical Gold Card?

Do you get a bit plastic for wallet or luggage tag? Sure I ve seen some people with it.

Also, is the gold phone line better?

Yes, but you have to request them online – the card and tags aren’t sent automatically anymore (or at all for other tiers). And yes, the gold line is better – you’ll likely never have to queue.

Get an A380 tag instead. Unfortunately a physical card gets you diddly-squat. Apart from a higher chance of your luggage going “missing” (nicked)

I think the tags have some merit when used around the gate area on cabin baggage. Tends to ward off the gate agents rocing for possibly oversized bags (not that mine ever would be, but saves a confrontation)

This is 100% right – I keep mine in a side pocket on my case and only attach them when the flight is busy/flying economy. I’ve been walking onto busy short haul flights with colleagues and they have been stopped and I’ve been let though. I keep them off normally though, I don’t like to have them showing

I don’t put it on my checked bags but I do keep it handy to show just incase a gate agent is being strict with hand baggage (which they should be!)

I agree best to only use them in gate vicinity then remove. I wouldn’t swan around London with my full name and IHG number on display so why would anyone want that identity theft risk. Yet, i do see quite a few cards jangling round the city
