Signed up for BAPP card with the 70k bonus point.
Specifically used the Amex website link.
They are now saying they’ve no record of me using that link.
I 100% did.
They are at it.
Anyone else having this issue?I’ve heard of similar issues with tracking bonuses before. Maybe try contacting their customer support and providing proof that you used the link? It might take a bit of back-and-forth, but hopefully, you’ll get those bonus points.

Anyone else having this issue?I thought people had to use the link on the BA page to get the 70k offer?
Or did they change this?
I used the specific link that highlighted the 70k points.
Can’t remember if it was BA page or AmEx but it was a specific link that said it, I remember.HfP was very clear about using the correct link, I recall, so I was super careful to make sure I clicked the correct one.
If you don’t get anywhere with customer service, you will need to raise a complaint, ideally providing some evidence to support your case. If that team doesn’t give you the full difference in Avios (in these cases some have been offered lower amounts on a goodwill basis) you have the opportunity to escalate the matter to the FOS. If your complaint isn’t upheld by Amex it will probably be on the basis of evidence from their systems – you will need something to counter that evidence if you are to succeed.
Past experience of these issues is that the relevant tracking cookie is very ‘sensitive’ so if you have any sort of blockers or similar, the right source for the referral doesn’t register. It can get knocked out even if you go off to another tab during the application process.
Prior to applying I did a live chat to check I was eligible, which they confirmed I was.
I wouldn’t have applied if I wasn’t.
It’s hard to provide firm evidence though as it’s a link you click and that link is now gone.
My live chat is proof of my intentions though.
I’ll certainly be escalating this if they don’t honour it.
TBH, Amex CS is awful and I previous had issues with another card where they denied the points even though they told me I was eligible.
The ombudsman ruled in my favour too.
It’s a pain in the backside and a waste of my time having to do this, so I’m not happy at all.It sounds like HfP should update their article/advice/ad, to warn people to make a screen recording of the session when they apply.
It would be amusing, for the technically skilled, to make an ombudsman or MCOL case based on http logs from the browser demonstrating the flow with cookies and http referrer: header captured.

It’s a pain in the backside and a waste of my time having to do this, so I’m not happy at all.Your original post suggested that the issue was that you got a lesser SUB whereas now you are saying the question may be your eligibility for any welcome bonus. The fact the chat service said you were eligible doesn’t seem to cut much mustard. It really is up to the applicator to know their eligibility as it’s not very complicated. Unfortunately, for some reason Amex here doesn’t have the screen prompt at the time of application stating whether you are eligible or not as they do in the US.
If you reach an impasse with Amex saying you weren’t eligible, eg by applying too early, you’ll probably get a few Avios but the key for them to correct their chat error would be to cancel your card and set your clock back to where it was so you can reapply at the right time.
If you didn’t use the correct link on the BA website then you won’t get the 70,000 points. It won’t matter how much you kick and scream.

If OP had some sort of ad / cookie blocker, would there be any way for him to prove he followed the link? History might show visiting the page but not necessarily the flow.

He already said he used the right link.
I got ad blocks coming out of my ears but when it came to an application for 2x BAPPs at £1400 for me and player 2 application I recorded with my phone both sign ups.
He already said he used the right link.
No he didn’t. He said he ‘specifically used the Amex website link’.

Where/when in the process did this online chat occur? Did you for example, log in to an Amex account, have this chat, then clear all cookies/use a different device and then apply following the link?
OP, when did this happen?
Have you now spent the target and received the lower bonus? Which I believe was 35k when the 70k offer (direct from BA) ran? Or have you received no bonus, because they say you weren’t eligible, i.e. had a BA Amex in the last 2 years?
The 70k offer only ran until 21st Feb, so your 3 months to spend the £3k would have ended long ago.
Key point is I 100% USED THE CORRECT LINK.
I was on the page where it had the 70,000 offer. I know I was.
Whether that was the Amex or BA page, I can’t recall as it was nearly 2 months ago!
I know what I’m doing with these things and know how essential it is to click the correct link.
The HfP article was very very clear so I was never going to mess that up.
Furthermore, I’ve actually had ZERO bonus sign up points.
Amex are going right down in my estimation.OP, when did this happen?

It was a recent new offer, the 70k.
It was on HfP site.
I discussed it with Amex live chat 31st August 2023, confirming it was there and I was eligible.
I last had personal BA card which was cancelled 14th feb 2021.
I am eligible.
Interestingly, though, there have been no bonus sign up points at all been applied so that’s yet another Amex fail even if they don’t honour the 70k.Key point is I 100% USED THE CORRECT LINK.

Amex are going right down in my estimation. The more recent BAPP offer in August was 60k, not the 70k that was run earlier in the year and as you now say you got zero points rather than a lower SUB, implies that Amex is saying you weren’t eligible for any SUB at all, such that your insistence on having clicked on the correct link isn’t the relevant issue. This is also borne out by the fact that when the 60k offer came out, there wasn’t the issue there had been in January about Amex and BA showing different SUBs on their respective sign up pages.

Hmmmmm.
I totally remember clicking on the link from a page stating 70,000 points after discussing with Amex CS on 31st August.
The link was most definitely there.
Weird. If it wasn’t there I would’ve referred myself (which I didn’t) for the card, to get the referral points too.

Amex checked my eligibility and told me I was eligible.
You’re right re 60k!!
It was that offer I’d applied for and had actually said 60k in my live chat , so I’m getting mixed up on the 60/70k.
My ERROR, SORRY !!REGARDLESS, nothing is showing on my account and I did use the correct link.
@boppy you have missed the point. As above, if you received no SUB as opposed to a reduced SUB, the problem lies with your eligibility, not the link and in that regard, nothing advised by chat re your eligibility should be relied upon; you might as well ask your postman. If you are going to churn, you need to maintain your own records.
Why would I not be eligible if more than 2 years had passed?
That’s the usual time frame.
Furthermore, they gave me exact dates of cancellation of previous card so I have every right to expect them to get eligibility correct.
Saying that, I’ve certainly been given wrong info from Amex CS before, as mentioned, and took it to the ombudsman and won.
I’ll do it again if that is the case. You’re right re 60k!!
It was that offer I’d applied for and had actually said 60k in my live chat , so I’m getting mixed up on the 60/70k.
My ERROR, SORRY !!😂 With your short term memory issues @boppy, I’m not suprised you’ve ended up with zero bonus points. Better luck next time.

I dont understand how you can refer yourself if you havent had an Amex for over 2 years

To be eligible for a SUB on the BAPP you only need to have not held an Avios earning Amex for 2 years, you can hold or have held any other Amex.
