Does date you redeem £10k spend voucher matter?

Hi

I just hit the £10k spend on the second year of my Barclays Avios card and can now see the ‘redeem’ button in the app – is there any benefit to me holding off on clicking redeem? Does the 2yr validity start from the date you redeem in the app?

Initially people were getting 2 years from the day the voucher was selected but there’s a thread currently with quite a few people posting that they are only getting vouchers valid till August 2025 and nobody seems to know why!

Where it’s specifically mentioned it seemed from earlier posts that the August 25 expiry date was happening on the vouchers issued in connection with the Barclays bank account rather than the avios card but I’m sure someone will be along to say if they’ve had a <2 years date on a credit card related voucher.

My card year end was October 2023. I got the £10k spending a long time ago but never selected the voucher.

At the anniversary of the cars (a few weeks ago) I got a mail saying I had earned a voucher.

The expiry date is Oct 2025 so I did get 2 years from the moment I got the voucher not when I spent the £10k.
