    Hoping someone can confirm that my plan works. Flying NBO-DOH (QR) then separate ticket DOH-LON (BA). Just to check I will be able to get my boarding pass for the BA flight either in NBO or at the Doha connection centre?

    Many thanks

    Why don’t you just download the BA boarding pass when you check in at T-24?

    If you still have the chance, if at all possible I would advise you to try to see if this can all be on one ticket whether QR or BA or someone else, for these same flights (whether codeshared or not).

    Amongst the dangers that particularly in these times could arise

    – QR reschedules your flight so it misconnects with your other ticket. Especially if you booked far out this happens a lot with QR, and can be a very serious number of hours different to the time you booked with them in particular. (plus changes of equipment although this is not the worry here.).

    – misconnect or cancellation of either flight on the day – you’d most likely have to have travel insurance to cover this

    – 2 separate flights so unless DOH is special, you would have to go through immigration in DOH, collect bags, then re-check in for the BA flight. QR staff have been accommodating about checking your bags all the way through on separate tickets in the past at some locations around tbe world but this is not something you can rely on

    – if you do have to go through immigration in Doha then many passports ok without visa but a few may not be. Also covid requirements may be introduced for landings that would then apply as likely you’d not be considered in transit if you’re not remaining airside. This can happen at short notice and the airline is not obliged to help.

    Haven’t done it recently but have done plenty of QR to BA in the past and always got my bag checked through and the BA BP at the outstation

    Doesn’t work in the other direction though, BA won’t check through to anyone on a seperate ticket

    Thanks for the info SamG.

    @ NorthernLass – It involves an infant and child which I should have mentioned and therefore don’t think I can download the BPs.

    @lady
    london – thanks – I should have added that I’m happy I’ve got everything else covered off/ accept the risks but because of the infant & child was worried that I’d have to go through immigration and I’m on quite a tight connection.

    Depends how far ahead your flight is then (as more time = more exposure to timetable changes and external factors) but it sounds like you already know you are at risk especially with 2 others in tow including a child so I hope your insurance is good.

    What I don’t know about Doha is, if you do succeed on getting your luggage checked through so are effectively HBO arriving in DOH, can you stay airside and just move to the BA gate, or not.

    Yeah – outbound was fine. Did it HBO and collected onward BPs at transfer desk.

    Just for reference – after a bit of debate at NBO bags checked through and BPs for all onward legs issued.

    And the rather ambitious (with infant and child) connection at DOH successfully completed.
