Forums Other Destination advice Doha hotel recommendations?

I Have 2 nights in Doha enroute home. Looking for hotel suggestion for a first (and probably only time) Tourist city stay?

BTW – flying SIN-DOH-MAN with Qatar on a BA Avios booking. As with a stopover had to call to book, helpful agent trying all permutations including 2 separate bookings was quoting approx £500 more in fees than online as 2 separate booking, (same online for both BA & QR).

We had a nice, cheap one night stay at Four Points by Sheraton with successful Suite Night Award upgrade from basic king room costing only 12,000 MB points.

Lovely roof top pool with parasol sun loungers and sauna, jacuzzi & plunge pool.

As MB Platinum was offered choice of free breakfast for member + 1 guest, an unspecified welcome amenity or 500 points (obviously opted for free breakfast and warned OH to behave herself or I might choose someone else to be my breakfast guest next morning). Perfectly adequate breakfast on offer including omelettes cooked to order. Convenient late 4pm checkout benefit was honoured without any hesitation.

We didn’t venture out (most of our waking time there coincided with Muslim Sabbath meaning no running Metro) but I’m led to believe that the location it’s in (Msheireb) is close to new Metro station, original Souk and Old Quarter plus good museums.

We wouldn’t hesitate to spend another couple of nights there with more exploring in future.

    Thanks WaynedP.

I think I shall be in the same situation as you, slipped up and forgot the Muslim Sabbath when arranging a Friday stopover.

I stayed at the Hilton in Doha (Diplomatic St, not the one at The Pearl), although this was a while ago in 2018. At the time I had a great albeit brief one night stay as a stopover en route to Namibia flying with Qatar. Very nice and very ample rooms and bathrooms, particularly enjoyed taking advantage of the private beach to cool off in the sea as the outside temperate in June is absolutely boiling! Didn’t have breakfast as was on an early flight the next day. It was a short Uber to Souk Waqif for dinner and a late night look around the Museum of Islamic Art.

Intercontinental was a great when we stayed there. WAs Spire Elite Ambassador and upgraded to Presidential Suite. Free lounge access also provided.
