Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Double Tier Points after Tier Point Collection Year Ends?

  • 4 posts

    Hi All

Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere, but I couldn’t find it in the search. I’m 240 points shy of retaining Gold, and my Tier Point Collection year ends on the 8th of February. I’m planning to book a CW flight to Athens with car hire for 5 days to take advantage of the double tier points offer. Due to work commitments, I can only travel at the end of January.

I understand that the standard 160 BA tier points will be credited immediately after the flights, but the double tier points typically take up to 14 days to be awarded. If the double points are credited after the 8th of February, will I still retain Gold? My card expiry is the end of March 2025.

    Cheers
    Tom

They _should_ be credited to the year in which the trip is completed, i.e. the return flight in this case. However if they don’t actually post until after Feb 8th the TP counter and your status will already have reset, so while the points would probably get retrospectively posted to the previous year some have had painful problems trying to persuade BA agents that their status should have been retained or progressed as a result.

Have you also considered the other angle, i.e. the transition year April 2024 – March 2025? If you make 1500 in that period you get Gold anyway, so depends on how many of your current tally were earned Feb 9th – Mar 31st 2024.
