Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Double TP in Dublin + Car

  • 77 posts

    Hey all

I’m looking to book some Business Flights + Car LHR-DUB in the coming weeks. I don’t really need the car but I need the TPs so thought I’d make it work. Anyone have any recommendations on where to park the car without amounting too many parking costs? Ideally free parking but I’m not sure how easy that is during the week.

The trip will be from Mon-Sat. No real preference on where the car is parked, ideally somewhere not too far from the main city. I doubt I’ll be using it at all, I’ll just drive it back to the airport on Saturday and return.

P.S. I understand people have just done a no-show with Avis and still got the TPs – it looks like this may not be possible anymore if BA come to know.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated

    Thanks!

Free parking anywhere near a city seems to be a bit of a pipe dream these days! I don’t know Dublin, but it may have a Park & Ride system where you can pay a few euros per day to leave the car. Where are you staying, are there no parking options nearby (or on-site, if in a hotel?) I did a 5-day BAH to Scotland recently so booked a hotel with free parking.

I don’t know if you mean you’re flying business class, or travelling on business (or both), but it’s sometimes quite a lot more expensive if you don’t have a Saturday night in your stay. Obviously this isn’t an issue if you’re travelling for work and your employer is paying, but might be something to look at when you’re pricing up the trip.

I returned the car to GLA a day early with no issues; I don’t know what would happen if you didn’t use it all though!

Check out park and ride locations at Red Cow or Stillorgan Luas Stations.

Not near city centre but you could leave car there for week and hop on a Luas to city centre from either. Both are just off the M50 so easy enough to drive to and from airport.

From memory parking rates are pretty about a è5/day

I’m staying near Hilton Dublin, but their parking seems to be over 20+/day. I think I might just find a parking spot using something like JustPark, which will end up costing like 25 for the whole week.

Ah nice idea! I think I’ve found similar pricing by using JustPark so might just stick to that to avoid the longer commute – its just going to stay parked for 5 days anyway.

    Thanks!

BA specifically changed the T&Cs to say that you needed to ‘use’ the car and / or hotel to get the TPs

Now people have reported doing neither and still getting them but you don’t know what BA is now asking of hotels / car hire places in reporting pick up / check in so I wouldn’t risk it.

And there is a dofefrence between takign the car back a day early ‘it’s just easier for us’ and returning it within seconds of getting it

So yes get the car and find a cheap / free (and safe) car park place!
