Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Doubletree MAN shuttle – how mean can they get?!

    I booked 2 rooms here with parking (at significant cost!) for next week. Pleasantly surprised to get an email from the hotel saying that the parking rate includes the airport shuttle (which they have started charging for). Replied to say we would indeed like to use the shuttle in that case. The reply was that we are entitled to free transport for ONE of us and the other 2 have to be paid for! I told them that’s one of the meanest things I’ve ever heard and will be feeding it back to Hilton.

    I am thinking the free person will be going in the shuttle with all our bags and the other two can manage the 5 minute walk to T1 …

    Sounds like a great plan.

    Following this I emailed them about my disappointment and they agreed to extend the free ride to a 2nd person!

    That’s ridiculous! It would actually make me look at other hotel options!

    DT MAN is new-ish. It was previously a Hilton, where it was reasonably well known for being useful for free car parking if you had your car serviced by one of the local participating dealerships. Being cheap on shuttle access doesn’t surprise me. There aren’t many decent options at MAN, though – there’s an aging CP, maybe the Radisson at the end of the tunnel is worth a look.

    The shuttle was free to all prior to the pandemic. They stopped it because of social distancing issues then when it was reinstated it came with the current charge. You also have to book it separately via a 3rd party which is a bit of a pain, and you get dire warnings about not passing adult passengers off as children!

    @NorthernLass
    I think you should get OH to dress in school tie and shorts if it saves a couple of quid!
