Hi
If I downgrade from B’Card Avios Plus to B’Card Avios is the card balance just transferred over.
I have received my 25k Avios bonus and wish to come off the £20 per month fee
Thanks in advance
What’s the best way to downgrade? Via the App, website or phone?

On the app, go to manage your account, and change to another card. The free card will be there if you have the option to downgrade, if its not there, means that a downgrade is not available to you at this time. CS can’t change it, so you’ll have to keep checking.
I’m also going to downgrade to the free card after earning the voucher, quick question for anyone who has done this. My statement generates and I get charged the £20 at the end of the month. However I have a few k of pending Avios that won’t transfer over until early Jan. If I downgrade before being charged the next £20, will I lose any of the pending Avios?

Not exactly an answer to your question, but my statement date is the 9th, and the avios transferred on the 2nd working day of the month. I think I downgraded once the avios had transferred, and was refunded the monthly fee.
Ah yes thanks, I’ve heard about the fee being refunded. I don’t suppose anyone else has any experience of downgrading pre-Avios transfer?
You’re transferring to another Avios earning card, no danger of your Avios being lost, they just continue to accumulate in the same pot and transfer over as normal.
Thanks Steve.
Just to update for anyone checking this thread, I can’t make heads or tails of the downgrade algorithm. The ability to downgrade seems to come and go in the app, it was there a few weeks ago, but after checking daily it hasn’t reappeared and I’ve been charged another £20. Will continue to monitor this month, but may have to reluctantly cancel and take 6 months out and then reapply for the free card.

It is very weird I agree.
It disappeared for me for around a week in December, and then it suddenly reappeared.
I don’t want to downgrade just yet, but I’m already considering that I might need to keep the card for a bit longer as the option to downgrade will most likely disappear when I actually decide to do it!
I downgraded my Avios Plus to Avios and my Avios balance of around d 34,000 has disappeared. Has anyone experienced the same? How can I get it resolved? I transferred after the points balance reached the my BA account so not sure why it would have been affected after the downgrade?
It shouldn’t have affected your avios balance but they go over to BAEC early in the month so could that be where they are? Have you only recently got the card?
Or do you mean they have disappeared from your BAEC account?
They have disappeared from BAEC! I got the card in September 2023. Hit the qualifying spend in the first month and then waited for it to get transferred to BAEC. Downgraded in December to the free card but now all the points have gone.
That’s odd – have you checked your transaction list to see if there’s any explanation?!

Very weird. Check with BA as they will be the ones with the control on what’s occured. Barclays cannot just take the Avios back willy nilly if you are sure that they definitely put them in.
