By the way as someone who did 99% of his flying before EU261, EU261 it is 110% better than the nothing that was beforehand.
I was never downgraded although once this took a call to BA commercial director. Duty of care was sporadic (but I had a company budget to fall back on) , delay compensation nonexistent. Hate to think of literally thousands I missed out on.
It does need refining and logically compensation should bear some relationship to what people pay. Politically that’s a no no.

How long usually does someone has to wait for downgrade reimbursment? BA said to me a minimum of 8 weeks is required. On the contrary i read on UK/EC261 that i should reimbursed within 7 days
The statutorily required seven days is exceptionally unlikely! Three to four weeks would probably be about the norm, but the bigger issue is that when BA does respond, you may not agree with the calculation, particularly if it involves a voucher (241 or BUV).
