Morning, thinking of downgrading Amex Plat to Gold.
Just wondering – if I downgrade, will the associated status/memberships be downgraded/cancelled at the same time?
Obviously happy if not, but no bother if so, just wondering.
TIA

These end immediately: Priority Pass, eligibility for the hertz CDP and FHR bookings (technically, YMMV).
But otherwise, No – As a minimum, they’ll last until the annual renewal date for the relevant programme (different for each scheme).
Hello again, called up Amex, and I was told the downgrade option was not available on my card (and explained that in a similar way that upgrades are not available for all cards, downgrades are not either).
I queried this, and the advisor went away and enquired, and found the button somehow. She stated that it would be subject to a credit check – when I enquired as to why, I was told it would be treated as a type of new application.
Confused by this – can anyone confirm that this is actually the case, or is this a classic HUACA situation?
Can’t talk to the credit check, wouldn’t give 2 hoots if they credit checked or not, though.
But – why downgrade?
Assume you would have to pay £140/yr?
Is gold giving you enough benefit for that?
Can cancel and take out Gold for the 1st year free.
