We have flights out to Dubai next Feb and want to do some diving in Oman. Flights between DXB & MCT are ~£440 return, whereas AUH are ~£85 with Etihad. Whats going on here? (Or £30 if I want to go with Wizzair!)
I presume that the sensible option is to just get a transfer to AUH from Dubai and save £700 – how easy is it in reality?
Or am I looking too far ahead for sensible prices?
TIA
Taxi to AUH is very easy will take about an hour or so depending on traffic and cost about £100 so still save £600 there isn’t a direct bus as far as I know.
Could see if you could hire a car and just drive? 4-5 hours drive.
We did DXB MCT with Oman Air and it was about £75 one way last October.
However, why bother booking now? Oman Air will be in oneworld by Christmas and you can use Avios – probably 4,500 – to book the flight.
If Oman Air is running a long haul aircraft its worth doing the ‘bid to upgrade’ as its a lovely aircraft – even for an hour – and you get a very smart lounge in Dubai.
That sounds more reasonable! Wasnt planning on booking now but was looking into logistics in advance. Given we will have a load of dive equipment with us, Avios might come in handy. Business class price for Oman DXB-MCT is currently ~£1600. That has to be the most expensive cost/hour I have ever seen.
I think you can uber from Dubai to Muscat for about 250gbp. Likely can get regular taxi to do it too
