Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club DXB-LHR ‘Avios Only’ aircraft change

  • 1 post

Flying J on the avios only return the flight from DXB back to LHR on BA108

Last minute aircraft swap from 787-10 with Club Suite to 787-9 with old Club World Suite. Family of four seats all over the place

Notably, the rep at the check-in desk said 30 economy passengers are being denied boarding due to a smaller cabin.

Given an avios only flight with many people probably on 241 vouchers, any tricks from BA to watch out for when claiming delay compensation?

Looks like I dodged a bullet!

There would have been 4 empty Club Seats because we cancelled 48 hours before the outbound due to a passport screw up. We held off cancelling as long as possible (knew it would happen weeks before) in case BA pulled the flight …

Is there actually a delay, or just an equipment swap?

According to BA flight status the flight landed 6 minutes late so no delay compensation is payable.

If you mean reimbursement for anyone downgraded or compensation for those denied boarding then the amounts are set down in law.

So Rob has kindly covered four of the potential six Club downgrades 😀

An oddity is that the 789 has four more Premium seats than the 781, leaving 30-40 (if it was fully booked) poor souls at the back going nowhere.

It actually brings a whole new twist to the question of who is most likely to be downgraded or bumped – which flight is most likely to be swapped for a smaller aircraft or cancelled?

Possible answer – the one where everyone has collectively paid the least.

This is DXB so plenty of options for BA to book those IDBd onto even if some will require a change en-route.

Weekend at end of half term …. won’t be much.
