I know this is a thing on FT and not really on here. But just witnessed a very angry man at the gate in SIN who was outraged that he had paid for business but wasn’t whisked to the front of the queue. What is wrong with people?

Ha. To be fair it is a little bit annoying that BA doesn’t have priority at security – some airlines e.g. KLM do have it. But since you’re queuing to either sit in the gate room together or to get onto a plane that can’t leave until you’re all onboard then I agree. But then how would we get our entertainment??! Safe flight !

I don’t disagree. But the person on the gate is not the person take it up with. She was very polite and firm. He was just a bit of an idiot. I did feel like pointing out that we were in F but were reaching the gate even later but didn’t think it would help. 😂

SIN is a funny one, as you have to clear security at the gate, and that’s where queues tend to form up. Priority boarding works once you’re through, I guess.

Yes thats kind of the point. I’m not sure what Mr Gammon wanted from the situation. There was one queue at security for first, club, and status passengers. It took a while because the set up is terrible. We were so long at security that we were amongst the last people to board. I didn’t like waiting i the queue either. But is it really worth losing your temper over?

Talking of security at the gate at SIN, how comes I was not allowed to carry through a sealed bottle of water, but the KLM cabin crew and pilots were waved through with hot drinks in hand?

PRG Terminal 1 is the same, but no priority security whatsoever for anyone 🙂

I guess that they think that if you have been cleared to be on the flight deck of a plane then taking liquid through security is a bit inconsequential 😂

Using the rock, paper, scissors analogy, I think the crash axe situated behind the captain would outdo a cup of hot coffee anyway.

Same reason an Air Marshal can carry a weapon and you can’t.

This thread reminded of travelling through T5 a few weeks ago, early morning. Long queue out of first wing, long queue out of normal fast track and two staff members going up and down inviting people into the ordinary track; nobody moved. I overheard this as I approached and went through the ordinary entrance – completely deserted, after walking though the snake was straight in to a belt. Seems some were too embarrassed at the concept of not demonstrating their elevated status or being caught mixing with the hoi polloi. Fortunately I wasn’t papped as others must have feared.
