Hi all,
Just been sat at Gatwick for 5 hours to be told my flight has been cancelled, if I request a refund will I be able to claim any other compensation or do they not have to give me any? As I don’t want to go out there now
If you cancel the refund is all you qualify for
I’m assuming you’ve been hit by the bad weather?

Not bad weather no, the plane coming back from Italy pushed back then went back to gate and is still at the gate in Italy as faulty.
Would I be better off asking to be reebooked onto the next time their offering me which is 27th then asking for compensation or is it still a no go? 6 Hours of my life wasted…
Bearing in mind the weather issues this afternoon I would imagine that Easyjet will try to hide behind all the other cancellations and delays so be aware you will be having a bun fight to get anywhere on this.
As for better off , it depends if you want to go wherever you due to be going. That’s up to you. Is there another flight with any other carrier from any other London airport you could ask to get switched onto?

Not really any flights I could get on as I needed to be there early morning tomorrow at the latest so I was hoping they would aircraft swap and be done with it but… I take it because I can’t get there on time and will just have to cancel my best route is to just cancel the flight for refund and accept that I’m not eligble for compensation?

If the flight is cancelled by the airline as the OP stated, he is entitled to compensation as well as a refund, the latter being in lieu of rerouting. It’s only delay compensation that requires you to travel to be eligible. The compensation is subject to any ‘extraordinary circumstances’ get out by EasyJet.

I’m so confused now, the flight was cancelled by EJ. So if I cancel my ticket and get a refund I will still be eligble for compensation and its worth filling out the 261 form?
