Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone here can help clarify the rules around reapplying for the Preferred Rewards Gold American Express card.
I canceled my Preferred Rewards Gold Amex card earlier this year, with the last transaction on January 13, 2024. I believe I received a pro-rata membership fee refund at the time, as I only used about one month of the annual fee (I’d had the card about 13 months after getting in the first year free). Both the card and the account were fully canceled.
Now I’d like to know when I would be eligible to apply for a new Preferred Rewards Gold card and still qualify for benefits like the first-year free membership. Is the waiting period:
• 12 months (e.g., January 13, 2025)?
• 24 months (e.g., January 13, 2026)?
• Or possibly less than a year?
Any advice or experiences with similar situations would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
John
There is no hard rule for reapplying. The rules are only for sign up bonus.
If you are accepted by Amex, you’ll get first year free. But no guarantee that Amex will approve.
So the 25000 sign up bonus wouldn’t be payable but the first year would be free?
I’ve got other amex cards so the bonus wouldn’t be paid no matter how long I waited?
