Emirates upgrade upon check in

Hi, looking to take a flight and upgrade with EK points.
I wanted to know is it cheaper (by any number) to upgrade upon check in with EK points, as opposed to in advance online

Points upgrade price remains static. Anecdotally the cash price diminishes – highest preflight online, drops after online check in, drops again at airport desk, drops to its final level on-board where only the purser can process upgrades on their tablet (though I have seen busy pursers give people the brush-off)

Interestingly whats not shown upfront is the cost to upgrade in taxes

I presume to go from LHR to DXB is £80 in tax? How do i check this in advance?

Aha I see, so you’re trying to go from economy to business? My experience is limited to J to F where the APD is already at the higher tier
