I can recommend Airalo and use frequently. I won’t give my referral since somebody beat me to it above, but I’d certainly recommend.

No referral code, but I’ve found the options available through the Trip.com app to often be much cheaper than the dedicated e-sim sites.

I 2nd Nomad. I’ve found Nomad to the best priced and best overall experience. Normally have an offer on top, also there regional plans are handy

Also if you haven’t checked out ID mobile id recommend. One of the remaining networks to give free roaming around the EU and is usually one of the cheapest

Sim related, anyone used Viettel eSIM in Vietnam, it’s been recommended, but never heard of it!

Yes I had a viettel sim once in vietnam, its the largest network there and you will have good coverage all over, easy and cheap to purchase

It will be used mainly for navigation purposes, so good coverage is vital, thank you for the reliability confirmation.

Nomad not the best priced nowadays, but their eSIM connections are seamless. Had zero issues.

If mainly for Navigation, have you considered Honest Smart eSim? Referal link gets you a free monthly, which might be all you need – https://honestmobile.com/r/gone-lamp-529

Have a look at http://esimdb.com, which comparison shops various eSim providers. You will quickly realise how overpriced Airalo is these days.

And it also lets you filter out nasties like subscription plans, daily data caps or throttling. Plus when you need a voice number (looking at you, US restaurants) you can select that too.

Datapoint on cost: Airalo 10GB for 30 days in the US is $34.50 with voice. Alternatives are from $13.60.

My son (who is in the USA) is currently using an esim from esim4travel.com, which I saw on the travel dealz daily email. Had no problems activating it when he landed in New York. Got a 30 day 10GB one, as he doesn’t get that much signal at camp so no point going for a higher amount. $8.40, which I thought was very reasonable, plus you can get 10% off using TRAVELDEALZ as a discount code. They do all countries and different amount of data/days.

For EU roaming we’re all on SMARTY, which is super cheap.
