Forums Other Destination advice eSIM US & Mexico

  • 7 posts

Hello, can anyone recommend eSIM for calls and data with coverage for both US & Mexico? Travelling to Mexico from UK but transit through US (couple of days) so require something that covers both geographic areas with ability for phone calls and data? Data doesn’t need to be a huge allowance.

We’ve bought Airalo e-sims for the US and Mexico but I don’t know if the same one would work in both countries.

There’s a long thread on this subject on here somewhere!

Airalo is data only, I’ve had a good experience with Simcorner physical sims. They do one that covers USA/Canada/Mexico, fairly certain they do eSIM too.

    Airalo Discover+ has data/calls/texts for 136 countries inc USA/Mexico. From £12.50 for 1GB/10 mins/10 txts

Referral code David83821 will get you £2.50 off

You could get a physical Lebara sim, use the link on moneysavingexpert and it’s currently £1 pm for 7 months for the 50gb.
You can then add roaming in the USA from £5 for 8 days/50m(in and out)/2gb for the USA and £10 for Mexico 8 days/50m(in and out)/1gb
Not the cheapest, or great for big chatters but it’s a normal uk phone line.
Probably better for those who need EU and more interestingly India and China- they are all included in the standard package (up to 30gb)

Thanks all for responses, didn’t want to have to swap sims in and out so eSIM is the preferred – plus my iPhone model is only one physical sim (partner has dual).

Will scope out airalo to see if will work in both places

My daughter bought an Airalo “Americana” SIM card last year which we used in USA and Canada without any problems. If I recall correctly, Mexico coverage was also included. We looked at buying one for South America a couple of months ago, but OH was happy to use his work phone so didn’t bother. Again there was a sim card that covered more than one country.

I have a feeling there were 3 tabs on the website. Not sure of exact headings but something like one country, regional, global.

@LD27 The Americanmex only does data, the Discover+ does data/calls/texts. OP needed all three.

@davefl She definitely used it to make calls in both US and Canada. Might be that she used WhatsApp etc. We had a couple of issues which needed to be sorted out travel wise and we needed to call.
