    EY 622 arrives from Abu Dhabi to Seychelles at 05:05 and spends 15 hours at SEZ airport.
    EY 621 to Abu Dhabi at 20:05 departs the same evening assuming the same aircraft as suggested by FlightRadar and others.

    I have never seen such a long layouver of an air craft for a relatively short haul flight and that too every day (currently operates 2 days a week)
    Any ideas what might be going on here?

    Likely either or both

    1) required to enable departure and arrival time at AUH time to efficiently connect to onward flights

    2) don’t want to keep crew on multi day layover so the aircraft waits whilst they rest

    No. 2 seems to make more sense!

    10 hours rest for EU operations for A320 aircraft fro some EU airlines, so makes sense to have crew resting for the day and then continue in the evening!

    If crew on rotation whether they will be resting or sight seeing is another matter.

    I am curious though unlike EK and QR who have return flight to base within couple of hours of landing why EY would not follow the suit?

    BTW BA’s A380 has a 12 hour daytime nap at JNB every day.

    EK and QR have more banks of flights than Ethiad I think, so likely it connects OK both ways with a shorter downroute stop

    @Richie
    the SA “day stops” are because the market prefers overnight flights on these routes, they can charge more for them. Same with US-South America. I believe BA has some light maintenance and deep cleaning etc done whilst the bird rests in SA which will be cheaper than doing it in London

    Pretty complex and interesting business especially for these airlines relying on connections!
