    The way forward is some sort of independent database for public record of the exact circumstances that caused delays and cancellations.

    I’m sure you know that this won’t happen! The CAA does publish a list of Heathrow ‘pre-tactical’ cancellations when these occur. The causes of delays or cancellations are often complex and not down to one element.

    Further, I’m sure you have noticed that the government here is desperate to help business so as to spur growth, so consumer protections are being rolled back in finance and for the aviation sector in the EU which we will likely follow.
