    Hello

I was on a delayed flight with easyjet from Bristol to egpyt that landed 3 and a half hours late. They supplied no details of compensation which I thought they had to? We also got no food and 100ml of liquid while sat on the runway for 3 hours 15 which I thought was wrong.

I submitted the request for eu261 on the easyjet website but it keeps getting rejected stating they are unable to find who I am. Is direct with the airline the correct way to claim?

You can only claim via the airline.

Are you using your right name?

I mean if you go by Dave is your ticket listed as David which may explain why they can’t find who you are?

Food and water is a difficult one. There is a get out in the regulation that says if prodiding them can further delay the flight they can avoid it and its difficult if there are creeping delays to do much.

Poor staff on the flight, tough dealing with that kind of delay on a short-haul

I have resubmitted incase it was a typo. I wonder if it’s being rejected because I put my 1 year old as a passenger and she doesn’t have a full seat?

You should apply for the compensation for your one year old as well, even if she didn’t have a seat.

This is why it’s being rejected. Apply separately for yourself and then for the infant. At least that’s what worked for me.

I think easyJet claim fares aren’t charged for infants, it’s just an administration fee.

It’s referred to by Easyjet as an “infant fee” and is charged per infant, per flight such that it constitutes a fare and renders the infant eligible for the same compensation as children or adults. I don’t believe there are any binding cases on this but the 2017 judgment of HHJ Pearce in Varey v Ryanair will carry weight and is now generally accepted. Ryanair got very excited at the time and immediately said it would appeal, but I don’t think there was any appeal, so Ryanair may either not have got leave to appeal or decided it was better not to test the matter further only to get a High Court decision against them.

Thanks @JDB for a case reference.

That’s what I thought. I hadn’t even bothered claiming until a friend told me he had been paid out compensation for an infant by wizz!
Easyjet paid out for an infant without any issues

I’d regard Egyyt as a long short haul so this must have been painful. At least the USA brought in a law that pasengers should not be stuck on a plane once 3 hours have passed. And given the liquids restrictions there should at least be a law insisting on a minimum quantity of drinking water to be provided every hour over no more than 2.

Aren’t Easyjet’s Egypt destinations mostly over 3500 km away from Southern UK though? Got a feeling over 3500km becomes 4hrs late needed for compo though you haven’t said how late it arrived.

Will be quite interested to hear how this one turns out.

OP said flight arrived 3½ hours late which gets you £260 compensation – 50% of the full sum you would get if the delay were over 4 hours. Obviously subject to usual ‘extraordinary circumstances’ caveat.

I have submitted again 4 days ago but no response yet. All others at the hotel received £520 which I would have thought needed 4 hour delays too, but they have been paid

    The distance is 4100km

That’s a great result if they pay the full sum.

They passed me around in circles for nearly 2 weeks until I raised it as a complaint and within 24 hours they have agreed to pay the full sum

60% refund on the cost of the holiday – what a result
