Hi all,
We have a unique (for us) Summer planned this year where my wife and I both have the entire Summer Holidays off so are planning on taking the kids to Asia for the entirity of the break.
We are keen to make it as a special as possible so I’m looking at options to secure a good deal on business class flights from somewhere in Europe and use Avios to position to the start point for a day or two before flying to Singapore (where we have family and will be “based” for the summer)
Does anyone have any ideas/reccommendations on how to get sight of where/when these flights may be available- I know on Google Flights you can search for “Anywhere” as the destination but not the start point.
Thanks in advance
yes, Google flights is a good start. In the ‘from’ you can add around 5-6 locations, so i would start with some of the usual known cheaper places like ARN, DUB, OSL, BUD, SOF, then try a few more. Once you’ve done the intiial search, you can look at the dates again and it will show prices on all of the other dates. so within 10-15 mins you can look at many different departure points and dates to see what works out cheapest.

Thanks, I didn’t realise you could do six options for both departure and destination
Cheers
We’ve had a couple of good deals post Covid including Singapore airlines from Oslo (via London!) and Frankfurt and BA from Pisa. At the time there were also good deals from Amsterdam, Paris, Helsinki, Rome and Dublin. So do look at as many options as you can. Prices, starting cities and airlines change frequently so it’s worth keeping an eye on prices and buy when you feel price is acceptable. Once you have bought your ticket don’t keep going back to check if it was a good deal!
A suggestion to make it clear that you are looking for cash flights and not miles, from Europe to SIN.
For cash flights, there’s a thread on FlyerTalk called ‘premium fare deals’. You can also sign up for some other third party services that alert you to good cash fares. Jacks flight club and luxury flight club.
Thanks all- yes – for clarity it’s cash fares I’m looking at.
Will try a few more of the start points referenced.
Already on JFC and LFC!
Remember to check other UK departure points too, like MAN.
Do look at second tier cities as well, so MRS in addition to PAR or SVG alongside OSL.
You might also want to look at beyond Singapore (typically an expensive destination) to see if someone like SQ will give you a free stopover if you head on to Indonesia. To stress you will have to make the onward trip, but may only need to stay a day or two.
