Contacted a US hotel which is on my next trip to check the executive lounge is actually open (otherwise I’m booking elsewhere). Response “Currently our Executive Lounge is open with all day snacks service (chips, granola bars, fruit, water and soda’s). Many full service Hilton’s are discontinuing the service so we do ask that you follow up with us again before your visit to verify our offerings.”
massive blow to the reward programme if this is true.
At Hilton Lima in Peru the lounge is closed, but the replacement offer is just as good. Complimentary well-stocked mini bar replenished daily incl. alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits, soft drinks) and snacks (at least 6-7 varieties). 2 free drinks and a free snacks per person per day in the main restaurant. These snacks could easily replace a very nice starter. My point is that the hotels that care or cared about guests pre-pandemic will have a good replacement. Those that were trying to give less, will continue to do so.
but remember, the Hiltons in the US have always been mediocre with less and less offering. diamond inflation there being one reason
Indeed – a lot of US Hiltons weren’t that great for food and alcohol offerings, however lounge access was a great benefit just for the space to relax or work, plus normally coffee availability. It’s a real hit to the Diamond perks if more of them close permanently, and not just in the US, several in London have also been closed for good.
Hiltons at Wembley and Olympia are no longer on my go to list!
