Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios Existing Barclaycard/premier account holder

Hope someone can advise? I got the premier account last year and signed up to the avios plus credit card at the start of the year, I’ve received an email suggesting that if I keep both accounts open until March 2023, I will receive the 100,000 avios bonus. I’m slightly confused as I thought it had to be a new sign up this October/November?

No it also counts for existing card holders.

But Jason’s saying he had *both* products before the start of the offer period, which isn’t supposed to count. Unless, Jason, you added the Avios option to your existing Premier account within the offer period? If so, that’s the reason why.

Otherwise, it’s hard to believe I know, but Barclays appear to have messed up. Depending on your personal moral code, you might want to tell them or you might want to just keep quiet and see what happens.

I guess the question is, have you got Avios Rewards activated, and was it first activated during the offer period? Which would mean you *are* eligible for the 100k.

Because the requirement is to have a BC Avios Plus card and Avios rewards, and one of them needs to be new during the offer period. It’s not about having Premier banking, although you can’t have Avios Rewards without it.

If you already had it, then the email was sent to you in error, but given all the issues with Barclays IT, there’s a chance they will give you the points in error anyway! If they don’t, I guess you can use the email to argue that they should give you the points for getting your hopes up!
