I’m looking at an upgrade but the class I’m looking at is fewer points than the lower class.
Does anyone have any experience using a reward voucher with Virgin to upgrade in this scenario, and what did you get? Did you get a 0 point upgrade, or reduced total return journey (i.e. -2000 out, 4000 return resulting in 2000 total cost)?
(Ignoring fees etc as that’s always more)
do note if you are upgrading a cash ticket , they value your current class based on max saver rates NOT current bookable rates…
so you need to calculate cost of higher cabin at the current bookable rate minus the max reward saver price of your existing booking. the difference is what you need to pay to upgrade, I doubt it will still be lower…?

If your original booking was paid for fully in money or using Points Plus Money, you’ll pay:
The price in points of your new upgraded seat less the maximum Saver reward seat price for the cabin you’re upgrading from.
scroll down you will see the chart depending on season
