Forums Payment cards Other payment cards Failure to add new cards to Curve app

  • 95 posts

After many years of using Curve without any problems, we now have one which is driving me insane. Having scanned for similar threads and not found one close enough, I thought I’d ask if anyone has suggestions.

My wife has the basic Curve Pay free version. After recent fraudulent transactions on her Barclaycard Avios Plus, we both got issued with new cards. I have added my card to my curve app without problem, but every time we try for my wife, she gets a pop up message saying something went wrong.

This is not limited to the new Barclaycard; it also happens if we try to add any other card of hers to Curve. In case it saves questions, the Barclaycard has been used for chip and pin transaction to activate it, in the same way that I did for my replacement card.
Have contacted support and only just sent them details and an image of the error this evening, so it might well take a while from their side. But they say they cannot see any signs of her account even trying to add a new card.

Have uninstalled and re-installed the app with no difference. The only card on her curve app at the moment is the old, now cancelled Barclaycard which had the fraudulent transactions on. I cannot remove that card as it’s the only one in her app, and she has no curve cash balance.

    Any suggestions fully welcomed.

Have you actually deleted the app rather than just removing it from the home screen? I had a similar problem a few months ago trying to add a new Virgin Money Mastercard and this did work for me.

On your wife’s curve card, try adding a debit card of hers. You can then remove the old Barclay card.

Yes, full uninstall, then back to the play store to re-install.

That’s what I thought, but I have tried, but it fails when adding any card; I did mention that in the original post. So it doesn’t seem an issue just with the replacement Barclaycard. And on my curve app, I added my replacement card without having to remove the old one.

Clear cache and storage before deleting and reinstalling.

Clear cache and storage on your phone and log in to your wife’s account on your phone. If able to successfully add card, it should then work when she logs in to her own phone.

As you already contacted curve, may be best to wait for a response or else they may get confused with what you’ve done.
