Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Marriott Bonvoy Family / kid friendly hotel in Europe

  • 1 post

Looking for a recommendation for a Marriott Hotel in Europe for a family holiday of 4 with a 4 and 7 year old. I have just over 180,000 points and was thinking of doing 5 nights to get the 5th free but struggling to find a hotel that works. Open to any suggestions or recommendations. Thanks J

There are a lot of AC Hotels in Spain, not sure if you can redeem with this brand.

Yes you can, though options might be limited. The AC Palacio in Malaga is quite nice but being based in a city might not be ideal with kids.

I think there are a couple of quite fancy properties further along the coast near Marbella but I think they’re a lot more points.

Marriott/Bonvoy points don’t get you that far at peak periods since dynamic pricing arrived!

Somewhere like AC Tarragona may have availability, day trips to Port Aventura/ Ferrari World may be possible.

A wild card suggestion – AC Hotel Bella Sky in Copenhagen (or broadly, any of the Marriott’s in Copenhagen that isn’t the MOXY). the Bella Sky is surrounded by parkland if you just want to wear the kids out (it has little horses too to look at) there is also a huge shopping centre nearby too. The hotel itself is just a short one stop train journey from the airport and either a short walk or a driverless train one stop away. (Think DLR, but if it was from the future). There’s absolutely loads of space and seating areas in the hotel so even if you have a hotel day, you don’t have to be in the room.

Copenhagen itself is super kid friendly, with two theme parks (Tivoli, city centre!) and Bakken (45mins north on the train). Copenhagen Zoo is amazing (and has Pandas!), ditto to their aquarium, Den Blå Planet, which is so much better than the ones in the UK. Free, high quality, playgrounds are also *everywhere* in Copenhagen. Most museums have kid inspired content as well, and of course Denmark is the home of LEGO.

There are a couple of Marriotts in Greece with kids pools/waterslides, the Westin being the most obvious. Not been myself though.
