Any suggestions for a hotel as close to Central London (Leicester Square) as possible that will do a guaranteed 4pm check out? Maybe via one of the travel agent schemes ? I don’t have an Amex Plat or any hotel status

I think the problem is that some of the agent rates are 4pm where possible (IHG Lux Life, Hilton Impresario). The Amex FHR 4pm is a guarantee, and I doubt any hotel wants FHR guests complaining to Amex about being turfed out at noon.

Unless others know of agent rates that GUARANTEE 4pm check out, you might be best calling individual hotels to agree in advance you can retain your room for a surcharge.

Yes I couldn’t see any offering guaranteed and a London summer weekend I wouldn’t fancy taking my chances

I may just do a Premier inn or similar priced option and book Sunday as well, bath them there, pack them and OH off in the car home so they can go straight to bed and I’ll go to work from there and save myself the peak train fare!

Buy Intercontinental Ambassador? That only gives you 2 options in London but the likelihood of them not respecting the 4pm check out benefit of Ambassador is low.

Case study: I stayed at the IC Park Lane the weekend leading up to the royal funeral last year. Place was chocka with Commonwealth and other heads of state. Even so, I got 4pm check out.

Also consider Hilton day rooms. You’d book a day rate at the same hotel you overnighted at. Day room bookings generally run from 9am-6pm.

Yes, Ambassador is the easiest option in your scenario.

For a high end property which offers ‘if available’ 4pm via its Preferred Partner scheme, Emyr can contact them and ask for this to be guaranteed as part of the deal. They will often agree.

I thought of the Hilton idea but oddly the couple of reasonable day use options are crazy expensive for the overnight.

I’ll have a look at Ambassador and the Emyr options but 2 nights in a family room at the Premier Inn County Hall is £371 flex so I’ve booked that for now and it might end up bring the winning option !
