Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Fare letter for Iberia in Economy Optimal

  • 1,140 posts

Just completed a LGW to MAD flight with IB operated by I2 (IB express). I booked the Iberia optimal tariff thinking it was equivalent to BA’s Economy with the right to have luggage on the hold.

I just noticed I got the tier points for an A tariff as if this was the lowest possible. Is this correct?

Yes this is normal – I’ve flown this route various times and always get 5 tier points regardless of if take the Classic (No checked luggage) option or Optimal, unless of course the Fare class is different when booking (e.g. I’ve managed to get 10 at some point because all lower class fares had run out so prices were higher)

Thanks! I thought the 5 Tier points were for the cheapest no frills ticket and the when you booked with luggage etc. you got 10.
