Hi,
1) Can a child be a “companion” for a companion reward seat?
2) can I convert Aegean miles and bonus miles to virgin points?
3) is the virgin Atlantic plus MasterCard credit card with it’s free companion seat per year if you spend £10k possible called a “reward seat” or a “companion seat” ?
1. Yes
Sorry don’t know on the others but those who do will be along later to help you.
2 you’d need to check the Aegean website. But in general direct airline to airline transfers aren’t possible. Plus Aegean is in Star Alliance and Virgin is in Sky Team.
It maybe possible to do it via an intermediary transfer via a hotel programme but you’d lose a shedload of value.
3 again check the V Money website. A reward seat isn’t the same as a companion seat and shouldn’t be used interchangeably as a description of the benefit.
Thanks very much to all of you who replied.
I need to get familiar with reward Vs companion, and I’ve written off my star alliance Aegean miles which are the most ive got anywhere, with virgin being second. I’m going to focus on virgin.
Does anyone know whether if you click through a cashback site to book a virgin Atlantic flight and pay with your virgin Atlantic credit card, if you’ll still get the 3 x virgin points despite having gone through an affiliate link?
Separate things. Reward flight is one you can book using points, whether or not you use the credit card voucher. Companion is for a second person on the booking when you redeem the credit card voucher and just pay the points for the first person (in economy and premium, upper class depends on your status).
No idea about the cash back.
Thanks northernlass.
I’ve been reading about on here that the optimal time to look for when these companion seats are released and I see mention of 05:00 UK time…..do you know which date in advance these are released?
Have a scroll through the Virgin Atlantic section on here, there is plenty of information. You can also see when VS flights become available on their website. For example:
