Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club First cheaper than Club

  • 87 posts

Just looking at BA prices 1 Feb 23
    LHR-DXB night flight
    Club 1,794
    First 1,650

Is this to make us think our Avios bookings are worth more as only Club available?
Makes no sense, anyone know the real reason ?

It means the cheapest CW fare buckets have either been been sold or more likely – given how close it is to the end of the booking window – not put on sale yet meaning only the more expensive and more flexible ones are available.

That F fare the A bucket which is inflexible

I’ve seen F fares be cheaper than J to JFK on short notice. I think it is because some people will never look at F fares for cash bookings.

Supply and demand basically. Corporate travel policies prohibiting a lot of people from booking first and travel agents being lazy so they don’t check. If they sell out of Club leisure travelers and people who book there own flights for work then they might lose those corporate clients who don’t bother to check. Leisure travelers will more likely take the cheaper option as its there own option and google flights etc. will advice them too, so overall more money for the airlines. Although it is a backwards way of doing things

It may not make sense from a logical first is better than club perspective so why sell it cheaper but due to the way airlines use fare buckets not all tickets are comparable.

An inflexible first ticket isn’t better than a flexible Club ticket for some people.

Btw is that the return fare as I’d be interested to blow my FTV from the jersey double up on a first flight at that price.
