Booked and cancelled 2 wks ago MAN via LHR TO SFO in first 4 people. Total cost about £3500 (ba carriage fees £550 per person).
Today same idea to Chicago but pricing at about £4900 (ba carriage fees £900 per person).
Have prices gone up or are different destinations very differently priced?
Business class fees are £350 per person by comparison.

Out of curiosity how many Avios per person for each route…assuming with 241?
Is this one way or return? Also, if you’re F outbound but coming back in a different cabin it really messes up the surcharges. There’s a thread about this from earlier today, and see also Rob’s “stuffed” articles from December.
All first class avios redemption returns with 2 new companion vouchers, both peak dates. To me fees seem to have increased from the last 2 weeks.
At least they seem to have sorted out showing regional availability on the website.
£550 sounds very low on your original flights. I’ve done a few redemptions in F in the past 4 years and always paid more than that.

that’s carrier surcharges as opposed to total taxes and fees. Looking back NYC booked aug 2020 was 428 in surcharges and 257 of government / airport / authority charges. Totalling £685 per passenger
£ 3500 / 4 = £ 875.
£ 200 ish of that is APD plus another £100 ish for airport fees so £550 for the BA surcharge sounds about right for what appear to be one way flights.
Only difference from previous was could only book LHR to SFO online = total was £1705.82 for 2 people (1 adult 1 child) total. 200000 avios. Phoned USA call centre to add on the MAN leg about £60 extra no avios.
Did this twice for 4 people / 2 companion vouchers. All return flights
