Me and my better half flying MAN-ATL on a A330-300. Currently we are in 4A and 5A at the recommendation of the CS agent. these are one in front of the other, so not the best for communication. Presumably this would be improved if one of us switched to say 3G or 4G.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Mot really because A looks at the ‘wall’ at the back of the G seats.
See seat map here
https://www.aerolopa.com/vs-airbus-a333-1
Even if you were in say 4G and 4K you are still sat across the aisle.
If you’re in the A seats one of you will have to stand up to talk to the other as the seat walls are pretty high. If you are on the other side you can just about talk across the aisle but you’ll annoy everyone around you unless they are doing the same. My advice would be go sit in the bar area for communication 🙂
None of the seats in UC is really suitable for chatting all the way on the VS reverse herringbone seats on that flight.
Halfway down row A is the best IMO, you won’t have anyone staring at you the whole flight as you face the back of G and you’re just far enough away from the bar and galley areas.
Yes the UC seat layout is not all that conducive to conversation – you do have the bar area as suggested above, plus each seat has a stool type thing (which forms part of the bed) which you can sit on and chat.
Personally, I try to go further back on row A on the outbound flight to the US to get off the plane first and help get to the immigration queue fasted (not that it seems to help that much)

10A is next to the door but too close to the bar. 4-8A are ok. 1A is too close to the galley.
Ended up in 10A last time, somehow I’d been bounced out of my previously reserved 8A without any notifcation.
Was 1st off at ATL and there wasn’t a single person in the immigration queue. Had the choice of 6 windows. Was through and bagagge was unloaded to the belt in less then 20 mins. If only all flights were like that.
I’d defo (and always have where possible) taken A seats whether I was travelling with someone or not on that seat configuration. Much easier to talk to someone the row in front or behind you than you’d imagine tbh, and no ‘audience’ directly in front of you as @MattB says
Thanks for all your comments. I am going to stick with the original seats and retire to the bar for a chat!

And a drink as well, of course!
Sadly, it’s a God awful layout…no matter what seat you go for. I guarantee you will not give Virgin 10/10.
ps And the bar area is not a bar any longer..or it wasn’t the other day. Sure, you can sit/stand there for a chat and you may be offered a drink as the crew walk through.
The food is awful to. All very underwhelming.

And I sincerely hope you haven’t wasted £1000’s for your seats…the Small Claims Court won’t be interested .

That was definitely the case when we flew with them in Oct last year but tbf when we flew last month it was much improved. Agree it’s still not back to pre-pandemic levels of quality (eg no post dinner drinks & no love-hearts), but I’d say 7/8 out of 10 rather than 9+

Had continuous alcohol service on request on my last 4 flights, the bar area wasn’t stocked but the crew were more than happy to top up glasses either there or at seat. And love hearts were offered, the crew even roped in a couple of small kids from economy to pass the basket around on my last flight.
Being nice/friendly to the crew and not pressing the call button goes a long way.
In my years of travelling both BA and VS, I’ve had far more issues with service standard and cabin quality on BA than I have had with VS. Irrespective of airline, class or anything else, though, being nice to crew is always a good thing to be, as davefl notes.

Wife paid for Premium. Work paid for me. Two CC vouchers for the upgrade. We both really enjoyed it. She had a sleep on the lay flat while I had a glass of Woodford at the bar chatting to a really nice FA, who did a great job looking after us the whole flight.
