I just booked a return flight to Cape Town using real money as there were no reward flight options, although I did manage to book seats using Avios. I booked it before the latest Tier points/First Wing promo expired on the 25th and it is a qualifying business class flight – however there is nothing in my documentation that talks about First Wing access. Do I have to wait until I create the boarding card to see this benefit mentioned ? Thanks.
PS I have also tried to upgrade to First using Avios but the ‘new design’ of EC Manage my booking doesn’t have this option and the old one doesn’t work. Any ideas ?
Hi Graham, I don’t know the answer to the first part of your post, but if it is a direct flight to CPT then I think it is the case that there is no 1st class in this post-747 world. There is First class via JNB on the A380.
Didn’t you have to depart before 30th September 2021
Customers spending at least £1,500 per person on a booking will enjoy benefits including Galleries Club lounge access, premium check-in, fast track Security and priority boarding (from June 21) at T5.
The offer is valid for bookings of at least five nights, for two or more people, and for departure dates between June 9 and September 30, 2021, where the customers are travelling in Euro Traveller, World Traveller or World Traveller Plus as part of a flight and hotel and / or car rental package.
Meanwhile customers spending £2,500 per person and travelling in Club Europe or Club World within the same period will be able to use BA’s First Wing at Heathrow T5, along with access to the Galleries First Lounge at the terminal.
The promotion is running alongside a recently launched double tier points offer for Executive Club members booking holidays by September 21, 2021, for at least five days, and for two or more guests, again for departures between June 9 and September 30.

Still running:
“When you book a qualifying holiday package, you could enjoy a VIP experience on departure when travelling from London Heathrow Terminal 5 or Terminal 3. To qualify, simply book an eligible holiday package of either flight + hotel or car for a 5 night stay or more, between 24 August 2021 and 31 March 2022 (excluding departures from 16 December 2021 to 6 January 2022). This promotion includes solo travellers and any holidays you have already booked with us.”
someone else posted about this in the last couple of days or so. Might have been within an existing post though.
I think they saif they got a separate email from BA Holidays about it a few days before travel.

Therefore if you’ve spent £2.5k eachon a 5 night+ Club world holiday before March 31st 2022 you’re sorted.
Re first upgrade with Avios if there’s first redemption availability then just phone youfirst to process

Thanks for the replies everyone. The promo was def. still running when I booked. If I don’t get anything about First Wing a few days before we fly I will take an afternoon off work to hold for the BA Exec Club call centre and talk to them.
It may have changed since, but in the autumn BA were sending out an email confirming your access on the Monday before the flight.

I booked a holiday that was eligible for this promotion and was sent an email a couple of days before the flight (last week) that I was asked to show the staff on entry to the First Wing. Whilst I managed to check-in without issue a BA staff member at the security lane would not let us through to use the short route to the First lounge and instead asked us to use the normal security and walk the ‘long’ way round to the lounge. Did definitely detract from the experience.

You mention booking flights – have you booked a holiday (eg hotel or car hire?)
So I am having the same issues as the original poster. I am sure I qualified for the First Wing VIP ground experience when booking our honeymoon of February this year.
Flight, transfers and hotel included at over the £2500 per person. Spent an hour on the phone waiting to get through to someone, only to be told – ‘ sorry sir you must be mistaken’ you had to travel over the specific dates ( the one that expired Sept last year).
We are due to fly Monday coming – any recommended courses of actions – or better yet anyone got a snap of the webpage text that showed this offer?
you’d think that in this day an age we wouldnt need to prove to companies that they DID offer the promotion that you qualified for… but hey ho – suppose I shouldnt be surprised!!
I had the same issue when I flew on a BA holiday in June. Bizarrely the only place I could find reference to it was in the Car Rental Voucher. There under Special Offers it stated:
“2x Tier points and First Wing
British Airways Executive Club members get Double Tier Points when booking BA flights. Available on bookings for travel of 5+ nights departing by 31 Oct 2022. T&Cs apply.”
When I turned up at First Wing at LHR they just accepted what I said.
I suspect the two posters above are interpreting the T&Cs more generously than BA intended.
As Rob’s article, when they extended it in Dec 21 said:
‘Free lounge access
If you book a 5+ night package for travel up to 31st March 2022, you will also receive lounge benefits at Heathrow.
Spend £1,500 per person on an Economy package and receive Galleries Club access in Terminal 5 plus fast track security and priority boarding
Spend £2,500 per person on a Business Class package and receive use of the First Wing and Galleries First access in Terminal 5’So book a BAH for travel by 31st March 22, not book holiday in that period for travel later!
