Hi all, I’ve been told yes by two unconvincing BA phone reps but looking for real life experience to confirm it!
I’ve changed some cash flights recently to different dates, and upgraded a couple. The changes have cost between a few hundred to over a thousand each.
Some of these were booked before the tier point system changes so the estimated tier points showing in Manage My Booking are the multiples of the old system. I’ve been told that any cash changes to these bookings will also be taken into account, using the relevant cash-to-tier points under the new system. So the flight’s tier points would be the multiple from the original booking, plus the relevant cash-related tier points under the new system for the later cash changes/upgrades. Can anyone confirm this? MMB still shows the estimate at just the multiple.
Equally I’ve changed flights booked entirely under the new system, will the extra cash spent on those changes/upgrades count towards the tier point total?
Thanks for any help!
Certainly for flights booked under the new system, any cash upgrades or other subsequent additions (seat selection, extra bags) earn TP on the total ex-tax cost.
I don’t have experience of changing an ‘old’ booking, but I’d be surprised if they support both earning regimes on one flight. Unless anyone has direct experience, I would assume they would continue to earn under the old system, including any upgraded cabins as appropriate.
