Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Flight rescheduled. Positioning flight – Unable to change

  • 32 posts

Looking at this forum for help. Used CV and booked ticket from Edinburgh to Chennai/Madras. Edinburgh to London flight lands and then 5 mins later flight to Madras (the changed flight time) takes off. On MMB, it says “There is no availability for selected date. Please change your date.”

What are my options? Can you please advise? Flight on 29-March hence looking for information from other folks affected in such scenarios.

Is calling BA the only option and request for tickets on 29-March?

Has the Madras flight time just changed? If so, it can take a short while for the BA change pixies to notice you now have an impossible connection. Whilst you can wait until this is spotted automatically, or in this case I would just ring BA and ask them to move your EDI-LHR earlier or even the day before depending on what time Madras now leaves.
One reason why I usually book domestic connections the day before and stay over at LHR

The “robot” (pixie – love that!) should likely see this and fix it. But it may move your flight to India +1 day. So you’re likely better off calling in or chatting to get this one fixed. You do not need Avios availability for a rebooking, if the agent starts telling you that you do then “HUACA”

Before calling look to see what other EDI flights would allow you to get to LHR in time for the flight to MAA.

Much easier to say to the agent “I’d prefer to be put onto the BAxxx at whatever time” than for the agent to go through several options and you um and ah-ing about each one.

When a flight is cancelled the ”pixie” just looks at rebooking those on the cancelled flight. Later, a separate pixie then goes through and looks for missed connections and then adjusts the whole booking.

Many thanks for feedback. Called and rebooked on earlier positioning flight.

And that’s the way to do it – being proactive means you are far more likely to get the outcome you want, as opposed to “the options left”.
