    Morning all

We have finally secured flights MAN-AMS-LAS & return. I have however no experience of transiting through an airport.

Has anybody any experience of the procedure at AMS once landed? Is it simple, follow the signs or could be be tripped up along the way (not literally).

Looking at the airport map I think we could land at arrivals 1 or 2 and transit out of any terminal at the moment.

General consensus appreciated, we have a 1h10 layover.

Schipol is one of the easiest airports to transfer at as it’s a hub and spoke shape, you just go down one leg and up the other.

Very easy as there are no passport checks in either direction and there shouldn’t be any security either. Just check the screens and then follow the signs, potentially quite a walk if it’s say from the D to G gates but very doable. Bags transferred for you in both directions

You can use the Schiphol website to monitor the arriving and departing gates (which is what matters) for your two flights and then use the airport map to plan your way between them.

But as mentioned it’s a very easy airport to navigate especially as you won’t need to re clear security or under go immigration.

It really is as easy as walking from one gate to another.

We flew MAN-AMS-ATL-GCM a few years ago (it was horrific, never again!) – I’m sure we had to go through security again at the gate so couldn’t buy any water for our long haul leg which was another drawback!

Yes you used to have to do this. But they’ve switched to centralised security now and flights ex-EU / UK/ Singapore (maybe some others) are considered clean and decant straight into the departure area (where you can buy whatever you want to take onboard!)

I have the exact route booked in December, flying KLM, so a first for me at this airport as well but also flying KLM.

    Glad I spotted this post!

You’re more likely to get tripped up – figuratively and, perhaps, literally – at MAN than AMS. Enjoy Vegas!

This thread has eased my concerns as doing MAN-AMS-BKK ( all KLM ) in early October with a short layover in AMS.

    Cheers all
