Hi
I had a 241 voucher expiring soon and bit the bullet and going to Frankfurt for a 4 day weekend in Aug.
Any advice for places to eat, things to with a six year old in Frankfurt please?
Also what lounges should we do? Can I use the JAL lounge?
TIA
you can check which lounges you can use via the Ooe World Lounge Database
Without knowing your budget it’s tough to comment plus Frankfurt hotel prices are all over the place depending what is on. I’d recommend against staying near the station the area is really dodgy. A couple of my friends stayed at the Meridian earlier this month and didn’t feel safe walking around the area.
One thing to consider is staying in Mainz instead. It’s as easy to get from the airport as Frankfurt and is probably a nicer place.
I’d second Mainz – stayed there a couple of times as a teenager on school exchange, but it is considered a more interesting city than Frankfurt. Easily accessible on the train. Wiesbaden also an interesting town to look around.
There was also a thread on FT on the Lufthansa forum recently giving advice to someone working out how to spend a 12-hour layover.
My wife is a big fan of the new(ish) HI Frankfurt Alte Oper, although it is near the station so the area isn’t great.
Sinead is actually reviewing one of the Hilton hotels in a couple of weeks.
Mainz over Frankfurt, especially with a Child.

I can voucher for the JAL lounge. As a gold I was able to use the first class section. It’s very average though

Good to know thanks, I’ve been trying to stay at IHG properties to take advantage of their summer promo so staying for the first time there this weekend. Noticed it’s cheaper if you book on the App than on their website as they have an App exclusive rate, at least they did for this weekend.
