Doing a splash and dash for Tier Points and to try out club suite on the 777. Any suggestions for best hotel with IHG or indeed any others used to good effect before. The Sheraton attached to the airport looks dreadful

I needed overnight at airport last October. Stayed at HI Frankfurt Airport at Gateway Gardens. Easy to get to. Only a couple of stops on Sbahn. Made a good choice as there were delays to transport following morning. Despite travelling business with Singapore airlines with fast track but non EU passport, it took 2.5 hours to get to the lounge from baggage drop. BA is different terminal so don’t know what security/immigration is like there.
There is also shuttle bus for about €8. It’s actually quite close so walkable but not straightforward. Thread on Flyertalk with explanation. Booked basic room around €90. Was upgraded to higher floor executive room. A number of hotels at Gateway Gardens but not much else.
City easy to get to as well.

Holiday Inn FRA Airport was clean, modern and comfortable when we visited in Feb 2022. The airport bus was convenient and frequent.
I used to enjoy the IC down towards the Main. It was clearly a bit dated but comfortable and well appointed. However, I think that remains shut for renovations at the moment.
As an earlier contributor stated, getting into the city is easy and if you don’t have an early departure… it is probably worth seeing a little bit of the city.

My wife is a huge fan of the HI Frankfurt Alte Oper and she clearly isn’t used to slumming it 🙂
