Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Free and no limit avios transfers hack

Following on from the recent article and a few comments about avios transfers I thought it may be useful to post my workaround. I have had success in moving avios between individuals within a BA household account using the BA-Qatar back and forth transfer function. With a bit of thought you can successfully move avios, as you wish, between members of the same household. This method seemingly has no upper limit (I did 1 million plus) and obviously no fees. In addition it also means that a temporary addition of someone to a household account can be a route to free transfers with no upper limit to anyone (albeit with the usual caveats about the disadvantages of HHAs and restrictions to changes etc). I hope this is helpful for someone.

Does this require a household account in both schemes?
What are the mechanics of the process?

I have used this before, but is it still a functioning workaround? I thought they would have closed it down by now 🤔

Just requires a BA household account. Transfers from a BA individual account that is within a HHA to a single individual’s Qatar account are taken proportionally from all individual members of the BA HHA. Transfers back from the individual Qatar account to an individual in a BA HHA only go to the individual BA account. i.e. one way they are pulled proportionally from all HHA members but in reverse only go back to one individual. This, over a few transfers, allows you to move around points between BA accounts as you wish.

    Was still working last week.

I am in a BA HHA account and needed to move to and from Qatar Privilege a couple of times and each time it takes all the Avios from my account only and when transferring back they go back to my individual account. I thought I read somewhere that the loophole mentioned here and been closed and that seems to be the case for me
