Well, that’s a first! Flew back from Athens. In row 2 . Slow service with cabin staff managing to serve rows 3-6 whilst the lassie took ages to sort row 1. Eventually served beef salad which was frozen solid! the wee salad, beef, dessert etc frozen. As expected, CSM apologised and wouldlog incidence. Needless to say no other salad available and ended up with gnocchi. ( meh) The wee salad on this tray had burnt broccoli in it! .
I’ll certainly be filling out a complaint form and expect a plane load of avios as recompense.
Domestic border force had one person on. E gates blocked, staff pulling out pax with imminent flights. Chaos!

On domestic flight and I’m fed up that every time I fly it’s a’very full flight’ and cabin bags can be handed over in exchange for getting on board before anyone else .

Rant over and I can’t get a drink as I’m driving later! Sad face in @froggee parlance

Sorry to hear that. I guess you’re lucky if you get 5k Avios.
When they forgot to load a meal for me when I was in row 1, that’s all I could get.

I will definitely be eating before boarding my flight back from ATH later this year, there have been several posts about the direness of the meal service.

I hope you get 10k avios, @Jill, because I got 5k a few years ago for not getting served on the 40-minute LHR-MAN hop.

Also had the “we are operating a very full flight” speech on every LHR-MAN I’ve taken in the past 2 years. At some point you’d think they’d make the link with slashing domestic services!

I was in row 5 NCE-LHR last Sunday and still had my choice of meal. I chose the beef salad which was very nice. However row 6 onwards were down to 2 meal choices, then just 1 as service continued to row 10.

However I have also been on flights where one crew member starts at row 1, the other at the back row, and they work inwards. Meaning in row 4 I was left optionless.

It feels like a lottery choosing where to sit to ensure menu options are still available. Row 1 would seem to make sense but then you can’t store anything on the floor and I’ve taken to using a cabin case that fits under the middle seat to avoid partaking in the overhead compartment tetris.

Meanwhile TAP amongst others offers meal pre-ordering on short haul. Leading to far less disappointment. BA won’t even show me a menu in advance (upon seeing which I may decide to eat in the lounge/take a snack on board) nevermind a pre-order option.

Happens at about third BA short-haul flights for me. I get between 1-3k when complaining, but tend to bring my own food, especially dessert, as I am sick of that chocolate mousse.

Personally I think the chocolate mousse is the only decent Do&Co dessert. Austrian never disappoint on the dessert front.

Mrs T had ordered the GF meal and on the last sector (LHR-NCL) the IFL apologised that it was frozen solid. I could see a frost/ice Mohican on the napkin roll 🙂

We had dined well in the lounge, so no harm done!

As for priority boarding, here’s (part) of what I wrote on a recent BA survey: “The recent ‘check bags and board with Group 3’ is an improvement in theory, but a massive fail when these passengers are simply pre-boarded before all groups, within sight of those penned in the ‘priority’ boarding line.”

I had a similar experience last week – LGW to CUN in business
Ordered a special meal – and it came out partly frozen – Luckily I was able to swap it for the standard vegetarian meal so I didn’t kick up a fuss.

If people are checking bags voluntarily, they deserve Group 0. The only benefit of boarding early for me is guaranteed bin space (esp if a full flight and in Y). Otherwise I’m happily the last on the flight. This ain’t no Ryanair rodeo!

Just a footnote. My brother also had a partially frozen meal and as a Blue exec member was awarded 10k avios. My loyalty as a Silver member ( and 2 dining disasters on same flight) was awarded 5k avios! Obviously BA pay no attention to status or consistency. I suggested to BA CS this was not good enough and have just had another 15k avios added to my account. I’m happy now although I’d rather have had something to eat!

For 20k Avios, I’d be happy to be served a frozen meal!

It’s not unknown for people to check a “disposable” bag, in order to get group 0 boarding, with no intention of retrieving said bag.
