FTV Refunded – now negative Avios to be transferred

Got an email a week or so ago about a refund. 99k points landed back in BA Account. Just logged into my BA Amex account and see the £1200 odd refund of taxes, but now my Avios to be transferred is show a negative balance now. Wonder what happens to those that cancelled cards and get an alternative refund.

If your card is cancelled the refund gets held by the CC company and then they’ll arrange to transfer it to you when you contact them

Negative Avios balance with Amex just sits there until you spend enough to go positive again. If you’ve already cancelled then they don’t recover a negative balance
